Story behind the song
Moon/Wash is the debut single from my first concept EP, 'Neon Ceres Motel' which is slated for a fall release. On the surface it is a brooding love song, yearning for just one more night of passion. But really, it's a metaphor for struggling with depression in the developmental years as a young woman reaching adulthood, and the destructive ways that I self medicated to find relief. This song will ultimately be the opener for the story of Neon Ceres Motel, my own personal struggle with depression, attempted suicide, and the desperation of wanting to find myself and happiness again.
