Story behind the song
This is about the genocide that was carried out and still being carried out towards the indigenous people of North and South America
Lyrics
Natives didn't land on Plymouth Rock Plymouth Rock landed on them They weren't born in America America was born on Native land They took all that they can *Verse 1:* They came with lies, they came with greed, Stole the land, took what they needed. Blood on their hands, history erased, A nation built on the graves they made. *Chorus:* Broken treaties, broken dreams, A history of violent schemes. Silenced voices, faces lost, Injustice etched into the cost. *Verse 2:* Wounded Knee, Sand Creek, so many scars, Massacres hidden, their horrors afar. Children taken, forced to forget, Their culture erased, under the cross theyre made to repent. *Chorus:* Broken treaties, broken dreams, A history of violent schemes. Silenced voices, faces lost, Injustice etched into the cost. *Bridge:* No justice came, no reckoning near, Generations lost in their relentless fear. Yet the spirits cry, the land still weeps, Truth hidden deep, where the silence sleeps. *Final Chorus:* Broken treaties, broken dreams, A history of violent schemes. Silenced voices, faces lost, Injustice etched into the cost.
