The Funky Deva...a songspinner of acoustic/soulful spirit-driven music for the mind, body and soul!
I first began to write songs as a small child. I was very drawn to music of all kinds, but especially to music that had "soul". Now this could mean Aretha Franklin or Judy Garland, both possess incredible soul! Later in my life I was influenced by so many great songwriters/performers...Carole King, James Taylor, Tracey Chapman, Phoebe Snow. I think I am a distillation of so many things and genres of music. I did not try to copy anyone...for instance I believe still, that "soul" music is not so much a genre, as it is what you put into the song of your own soul. I put a lot of soul into everything I sing!

Story behind the song
Mmmmm...this one gets kinda too close to home, so I will just say it was one hell of an adventure! Got a great song out of it too! :)
Lyrics
Naked Truth (How Deep) sherri lyn robbins (c)2005 I been walkin' up some mighty mountains With razors strapped to my feet.. Though the pain sometimes is self-inflicted It's bittersweet Flaxen hair, honey lips Mystic magic flies from the fingertips I been tryin' to resist Cause there are lies that live inside that sweet caress And no...nobody knows How deep my still river flows And the winds of change Surely gonna blow But there is one thing You will never know... You enticed me into, your secret garden And you offered me, forbidden fruit My eyes they were open wide To the naked truth And no...nobody knows How deep my still river flows And the winds of change Surely gonna blow But there is one thing You will never know... I been buildin' a mighty fortress darlin' Brick by brick, and stone by stone And the mortar is made from my flesh My blood and my very bones From the marrow of my bones And no...nobody knows How deep my still river flows And the winds of change Surely gonna blow But there is one thing You will never, ever know... How deep my love goes... You will never know... You will never know.
