Singer/ songwriter from Dawson City, Canada, living in Norway. Country and rock
- now what kind of name is that? Knowing how hard it is judging a book by the cover, judging a man by his name is equally as impossible. To make a long story short, Zerener was born in , Canada in 1965. His father, a German schoolteacher and his Mother, a Norwegian nurse, made a living in the Yukon wilderness before moving to Dawson Creek, British Columbia. The family split up and his Mother took him and his two older sisters and moved to Norway. started to play guitar quite early, and was an huge Beach Boys fan until he discovered Johnny Cash and country music in general. His biggest influence, however, is Bobby Bare. After hearing Bobby Bares “Drunk and Crazy” album, he realized that country and rock can be combined- either as a country rock song or a rocking country song. wrote his first song at the age of 16, but it took a couple of hundred songs before he really thought he had the gift for song writing. In 1995 he released his debut CD ””, beside his music, is also a well respected web designer/ developer and photographer.

Lyrics
GYPSIES KNIFE Late some nights When the moon is cold You better stay inside And don't open if there's Someone at your door 'Cause the woods 'round here Are dangerous In the middle of the night It can steal a soul Like it's often done before The local people swear It's the Gypsy who's returned Roaming 'round the woods For his wife And in the morning When the sun comes up On a lonely path you'll find Blood stains From the Gypsies knife Go down to the church And at the graveyard You will find A tombstone with no flowers And no name The Gypsy-queen is buried there And if what they say is true She's laid face-down To hide away the shame The stories here are many But at one point they all agree One stormy night The Gypsy took her life And he left her on A lonely path In the middle of the woods Stabbed to death By the Gypsies knife Oh ,it's a mystery They say On that night All the gypsies went away But in the woods If you hear a Gypys lonely cry You better run Or you're gonna die It happened many years ago When the gypsys Roamed the land And now and then they'd pass Trough our town The Gypsy-queen was seventeen Her man was forty-four They say he was The meanest man around The Gypsy-queen was lonely In our town she found someone And secretly they'd meet Late at night The Gypsy caught them in the woods Since then late some nights You can run but you cannot hide From the Gypsys knife Oh,it's a mystery They say… so when the nights are getting long You better stay out Of the woods 'Cause the Gypsy might be there And call your name Forever he is searching 'Though his Gypsy-queen is dead But a young boys blood He's come to claim I was just a kid But I'm the only one Who saw And I'm the one who took The Gypsys life Now he's buried with his Gypsy-queen but his soul Is in the woods Calling out The Gypsys knife Oh, I know I never Will be free 'Cause in the woods someday I know he will find me And too the woods I go When she calls me late some nights But is it her Or the Gypsys knife Oh,it's a mystery They say On that night All the gypsys went away… But in the woods If you hear a Gypys lonely cry You better run Or you're gonna die Gunther Zerener -90
