Songs that are testimonies, spawned by life experiences. Each musical creation is meant to plant the seed of truth and salvation.

Ernie’s songs are mini sermons and testimonies spawned by life's experiences. His prayer is that each song will be a seed, planting the truth of salvation through Christ.
May God bless you and keep you in His grace.

Story behind the song
When I wrote Peace of Mind in 1994, I was inspired by Prov. 22:6, "Train up a child in the way he should go..." Also, I had been thinking about how coal miners work long hard hours and have to seek God at every opportunity just to make it through the day. In the context of this scripture, I thought of how this sets a standard for their children to follow, no matter what path they chose in life.

I’ve Got Peace of Mind

(Verse 1)
Papa got up early every mornin’.
He’d fix a fire for Mama to start her day.
But before he’d go his way, he’d look at me and say,
Boy, let me tell you how I make it through my day.
(Chorus)
Jesus is on my mind, almost all of the time,
And when I think of Him, boy, I’ve got peace of mind.
Yes, he is on my mind, almost all of the time,
And when I trust in Him, boy, I’ve got peace of mind.
(Verse 2)
Papa worked so hard in the coal mine.
He’d come home so tired late at night.
He would read the Word a while, then he’d look at me and smile,
Boy, let me tell you how I make it through this world.
(Chorus)
(Verse 3)
Years have come and gone since my childhood.
I’ve seen pain and trouble; I’ve seen strife.
Oh, but all of my life, I’ve remembered what Papa said,
Now, he taught me how to make it through this life.
(Chorus)

(Tag)
Yes, he is on my mind, almost all of the time,
And when I trust in Him, boy, I’ve got peace of mind.
