Story behind the song
I wrote this last December while our dad was in the rest home battling cancer. He lost the battle on January 25th, 2007, but he "Won the war!"
Lyrics
“Walk in Faith” Lyrics, melody & music by: Olivia Francis © 2006 BMI Our father is a good man who believes in doin’ right Even if what it takes is to lay down his life To protect his wife, family and US of A Yeah! He’s on active duty, each and every day One of eight kids from the old school and a strong bloodline Just like his dad before him, he is patient and kind He loves God and believes there’s no better way To live with one another, than kneel and pray, and walk in faith CHORUS: Yes, I love my father for who he is with all I am His strength, courage and character To face his life and stand… Up for what he believes in, and I’m proud to say Because of his love and guidance I’m learning to walk in faith Now our father’s in a rest home, eighty-six years young By his bedside we reflect on everything he’s said and done When Mama cries she can’t go on without him by her side He gently reassures her, wiping tears from her eyes Though we don’t want to lose him, we know for a fact If the good Lord came and took him, we’d know where he’s at He says reaching Heaven is just a prayer away And he’ll be looking forward to hearing from us every day CHORUS Tag
